RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for counties in central North Carolina as cooler temperatures are expected early Tuesday morning.
At 6:56 p.m. Monday, the NWS issued the advisory, which is expected to last from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Weather officials said to expect temperatures as low as 35 degrees which can result in frost formation in most of the Piedmont, Sandhills and Coastal Plain.
The advisory includes the following counties:

- Durham
- Orange
- Johnston
- Cumberland
- Person
- Granville
- Vance
- Moore
- Lee
- Harnett
- Wilson
- Wayne
- Hoke
- Warren
- Halifax
- Franklin
- Nash
- Edgecombe
- Chatham
- Sampson
- Scotland
- Anson
- Alamance
- Davidson
- Randolph
- Stanly
- Montgomery

Weather officials said frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation or plans if left uncovered.
"Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold," they said.
