RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a dense fog advisory for some parts of central North Carolina Thursday morning.
Forecasters have set the advisory to be in effect until 9 a.m.
Seven counties, all east of Raleigh, are affected: Edgecombe, Halifax, Johnston, Nash, Sampson, Wayne and Wilson. Cities and towns that fall under the advisory include Selma, Clayton, Goldsboro, Wilson, Roanoke Rapids, Clinton, Smithfield, Tarboro and Rocky Mount.
According to NWS Raleigh, visibility will be a quarter mile or less in dense fog, which could make driving conditions hazardous.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use low beam headlights and leave a good amount of distance between cars. Forecasters say extra caution is especially needed in school zones, and drivers should watch for children and the flashing lights of school buses.
