RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Drought Monitor updates every Thursday, and this week not only is central North Carolina out of the drought, most of the state is as well.
Back in early July, A moderate-to-severe drought had taken over our region, but after a couple stalled out cold fronts and of course, Tropical Storm Debby, look how quickly things improved!
Just through the first half of August we've had more than seven inches of rain, normally we would have had just over two inches of rain by now, that makes us almost five inches wetter than average for the month, and more than six and a half inches wetter for the year.
While our rain chances are much lower over the next week or so, there's still a possibility that the end of the month will be wetter than average, but September is typically our wettest month on average.
