MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida's Big Bend region late Thursday night as a powerful Category 4, but the effects of the large storm will impact travelers in several areas Friday, including at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
By late Thursday night, over a dozen Friday flights to or from RDU were already canceled, according to the airport's website.
As of 5:30 a.m. Friday, the number of canceled flights total 15 inbound and 14 outbound ones.
The majority of the cancellations are on American Airlines or Frontier Airlines, with multiple flights between to or from Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Orlando International Airport affect. Some Friday flights between RDU and Atlanta, Tampa, Dallas, Detroit, Indianapolis, Boston, New York and Philadelphia have also been canceled as of late Thursday.
