FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) -- The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning affecting parts of Cumberland County and Bladen County on Friday and Saturday.
At 9:46 p.m., the NWS issued the warning for Cape Fear River At William O Huske Lock and Dam 3.
The warning will begin Friday morning and is expected to last until Saturday afternoon.
Weather officials said minor flooding is expected as the river is expected to rise above the 42.0-foot flood stage Friday morning to a crest of 42.6 feet early Friday afternoon.
They said it will then fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.
Drivers are asked to "turn around, don't drown" when encountering flooded roads, as most flooding deaths occur in vehicles.
