RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- Four nights after a snow and ice event moved through central North Carolina, there are apparently still areas near the Virginia border that could have icy roads Wednesday morning.
Snow has been melting for days, but each night temperatures plunge well below freezing -- impacting any liquid remaining on roads.
On Tuesday morning, eight central North Carolina school districts were still closed or delayed.
However, there are only two districts announcing delays for Wednesday due to the risk of ice on roads.
Those districts delayed on Wednesday, Jan. 15 are:
Vance County Schools will operate on a 1-hour delay for all staff and students.
Warren County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay.
Forecasters are predicting a major cold weather system will impact central North Carolina starting next week -- but it's unclear if this time there will be snow or sleet.
