RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After frost Thursday morning, Friday topping out at 80°, why not throw spring-time thunderstorms in the mix? We're watching for the threat of strong to severe storms on Monday in central NC.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of North Carolina in a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather on Monday. Damaging winds are likely to be the main threat.

A broken line of showers and storms are expected to move through during the late afternoon and evening hours. We probably won't see much sun on Monday, which should temper the severe weather threat some.

If we do see more sun during the early afternoon hours on Monday, that will likely increase the severe threat as the cold front approaches. We'll dry out overnight Monday night into Tuesday, with some spring-like weather set to return, at least temporarily, Tuesday and Wednesday.
There is also a slight chance of rain on Sunday, but severe weather is not expected.
