RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service in Raleigh Wednesday evening for parts of two central North Carolina counties has expired.
At 6:36 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Benson, 12 miles east of Lillington. That prompted the NWS office to an alert for western Johnston County and all of Harnett County. It expired at 7:15 p.m.
Towns and cities impacted include Smithfield, Lillington, Dunn, Benson, Selma and others. According to forecasters, possible hazards include 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
An earlier warning that included part of Wake County has since expired.
