RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- As Tropical Depression Chantal moved into the Carolinas Sunday, massive flooding was reported in several areas of Central North Carolina.
But, the tropical system also triggered nearly 10 tornado warnings -- and appeared to spawn three tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
The three tornadoes are "radar confirmed" and there were damage reports from the areas in Chatham County, Orange County, and Lee County.
The first tornado hit in Lee County at the Raleigh Executive Jetport, causing damage to aircraft, hangars, and a nearby mobile home community.

Then, less than half an hour later, a tornado knocked down at least two trees near Moncure in Chatham County at 3:26, the weather service said.
About three hours later, the third "radar confirmed" tornado hit in far western Orange County in Mebane. There's currently no word on the damage in Mebane.

The likely confirmed tornadoes have been verified at this point using radar tornado debris signatures detected at each of the tornado locations by the National Weather Service.

Official surveys will be conducted by the National Weather Service on Monday when their teams will determine rating, strength and track info.
