FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Several counties in central North Carolina are under a flood warning Monday, the National Weather Service said.
The NWS in Wilmington issued a flood warning at 11:52 a.m. at the Cape Fear River at the William O Huske Lock and Dam 3, which will affect Cumberland County.
The flood warning at the Cape Fear River will also affect Bladen County at the same dam and Elizabethtown, according to the NWS.
"Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads," the NWS said in a statement. "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."
As of late Monday morning, no time has been given for when the flood watch in Cumberland and Bladen counties is expected to expire. The NWS said its next statement on the flood watch will be issued by Tuesday morning.
Another flood warning was issued by the NWS in Raleigh at 12:36 p.m. for Durham, Orange, Chatham, Lee, Moore, Person, and Alamance counties. More information about the warning and how it may affect these counties can be viewed below.
