RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A severe thunderstorm watch for portions of Central North Carolina Wednesday -- later leading to a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings Wednesday night -- has now been lifted, according to the National Weather Serviceat 6:30 p.m.
Earlier in the day, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued at 3:05 p.m. until 10 p.m. for several counties south of Raleigh. The watch was canceled just after 8:50 p.m., the weather service said.
Earlier North Carolina affected included Anson, Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, Rowan, Stanly, Bladen, Duplin, Lee, Richmond, Sampson, Union, Cabarrus, Harnett, Mongomery and Scotland Counties.

During the watch, the primary threats were scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 miles per hour, large hail and isolated large hail.
Storms moved through earlier Wednesday evening with severe thunderstorm warnings in Sampson and Cumberland County. However, the storms moved east by 9 p.m.
