After a rainy start to Tuesday morning, we had dry time during the day. However, that dry time is coming to an end as a boundary lifts north through our region. This boundary will create rain and thunderstorms tonight, some of which could produce isolated flash flooding.

Wednesday will be a drier day with a few showers by the afternoon and evening. This trend will continue into Thursday, but Friday will be a rainy day thanks to Tropical Storm Helene. Helene is expected to become a major hurricane before landfall likely along the Big Bend region of Florida Thursday night. From there it will move west of Central North Carolina, bringing rain to our region. The heaviest rain will be focused in the mountains, while here at home we can expect up to 3" with gusty winds and an isolated tornado threat.

Once Helene moves out, a few showers will linger through the weekend, but next week will feature gradually drying conditions and slightly cooler temperatures in the 70s.
