RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Counties in central North Carolina are under a severe thunderstorm warning, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday afternoon.
Central North Carolina is also under a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight, according to the NWS.
The NWS said 60-mile-per-hour gusts and penny-sized hail are expected. Emergency management across central NC has also reported downed trees and pea to dime-sized hail in certain areas.
Flash flood warnings were also issued for Johnston and Wayne counties unilt 6:45 p.m., according to the NWS. Additional rainfall of up to 2 inches is possible in these areas.
