Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Moore, Hoke counties

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- A severe thunderstorm warning was issued on Friday by the National Weather Service in Raleigh for Hoke and Moore counties.

The warning was issued at 1:49 p.m. for south central Moore County and southwestern Hoke County. The warning is set to expire at 2:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service said at 1:48 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Rockingham to Hamlet, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail. Residents in the area can expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

Locations impacted include Pinebluff and Foxfire.

A second thunderstorm warning was issued at 2:13 p.m. for southeastern Moore County and all of Hoke County. The warning is set to expire at 3 p.m.

The national Weather Service said at 2:11 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Hoffman to eight miles north of Laurinburg, moving northeast at 30 mph.

Locations impacted include Southern Pines, Raeford, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, Antioch, Pinebluff, Vass, Silver City, Rockfish and Bowmore.
